Cancun is Mexico’s premier resort destination, far outshining the role that Acapulco had once played for North America’s top holiday vacation nation. If images of white sand beaches, clear blue water, jet skiing, scuba diving and lounging by the pool aren’t enough of a draw, add to that image sensational nightclubs with larger than life shows and a plethora of ancient Mayan ruins and you have a sense of what the Cancun experience is all about.

Jutting into the Caribbean Sea, Cancun rests at the very tip of the Yucatan Peninsula on land that was commonly used as refuge for seafaring pirates. The resort town was built in the mid 1970s in close proximity to, and in some cases on top of, prized ancient Mayan ruins. The main drag is a string of beautiful Art Deco and high-rise hotels followed by a series of nightclubs ranging from exclusively posh or fantasy-like industrial to warmer more intimate discotheques with their own local groovy flavor. Regular 24 hour taxi service to and from anywhere in town makes choosing your accommodations almost as simple as booking your flight on cFares!

Ruins

Although simple mention of Cancun alone evokes thoughts of extravagant parties and spring break benders, make sure to take it easy enough so that you may enjoy a day trip to the surrounding Mayan ruins with a clear mind and an appreciative attitude. The most famous ruins are at Chichen Itza in the center of the peninsula. Inhabited from 445 BC to 1204 AD, then mysteriously abandoned, these ruins are centered about a pyramid with steps that culminate at giant serpent heads. Visit during either of the equinoxes and the shadows will appear as though a giant snake is descending the pyramid. Closer to Cancun, Tulum is also a popular Mayan destination that overlooks the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The Temple of the Frescoes has an ornamentally painted interior and the Temple of the Descending God is adorned with remarkably intricate bas-relief carvings. There are at least ten other major archeological sites accessible from Cancun by tour operators, and a few recently discovered minor ruins in the hotels’ very own midst.

Cancun, and Then Some

If beach bumming, water sports and overall paradise make you a bit restless, there are more than enough excursions to engage in once you find yourself on the sandy white beaches of Cancun. On a daily basis, seasoned guides lead eager hikers into the jungle to discover where the wild things live. Also, horseback rides are available along the coast and up into the mainland. A short ferry or plane ride away is Cozumel, Mexico’s largest Caribbean island and one of the world’s hottest spots for scuba diving, not to mention you can find a few private companies who offer swimming with dolphins. If true escape is what you’re looking for, Isla de Mujeres is your answer. Fifteen minutes from Cancun by boat, this small tropical asylum is a peaceful retreat from resort life on the mainland. Cycling is very popular around the island, as well as snorkeling and chatting up the occasional pirate that passes through. Take a peek at the mysterious stone statuettes of semi-clothed women left by the Mayans.

Cancun is clearly an easy number one choice for any beach vacation. Families, singles, couples and teens should feel at ease and at home in this Yucatan dreamland that Mexico has made into an all-encompassing, all-inclusive care free environment with the vacationer’s desires right at their fingertips! Mexico has beautiful beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean. In this article, we look at two hot spots on the east coast – Playa del Carmen and Cozumel

Playa del Carmen

With one of the prettiest beaches on the Caribbean coast, Playa del Carmen was the hidden gem of Mexico for years and years. About 10 years ago, the word got out and now Playa del Carmen is exploding. If you’re looking for solitude, this isn’t the place with cruise ships and so on packing the place during high season. On the other hand, this is definitely the place if you like a lot of “resort” in your beach vacation.

Playa del Carmen has a lot to offer its visitors. Of course, the beaches are beautiful and I highly recommend you catch the sunrise, which is some of Mother Nature’s finest work. Staying up shouldn’t be a problem since the nightlife in Playa del Carmen is plentiful.

During the day, you can loaf on the beach or head out for some diving in the clear waters of the Caribbean. Should you get tired of the beach, you can head inland for some surprisingly good quality hiking.

Cozumel

An island off the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is a slice of Caribbean paradise. With smooth, crystal clear waters, Cozumel has the white beaches you see in the Corona beer commercials. On the island proper, one can loaf on the beach, pursue world class diving or take a Jeep tour of the island. Dolphin petting and sitting in the hammocks of Xal-Hal are touristy, but fun things to do. Although Cozumel is on the cruise ship circuit, it maintains the relaxed atmosphere found in smaller destinations in the Mexican Riviera.

Unfortunately, Cozumel was in the news through much of the last week of October 2005 because Hurricane Wilma pounded it for over 24 hours. Cozumel is very resilient and after just a few months was back to its normal self and still a great location to go on your next vacation.

You can also enjoy Carnival on the island of Cozumel if you choose to take your vacation in February. Check with your local travel agent or online for dates. The great thing about Carnival is this. There are dancers all over the city all day long going around putting on their own little shows and every night there is a parade. This goes on for a solid week of music and festivities that are of the finest anywhere.

Enjoy some awesome fishing in the Carribbean as well. I caught this ‘Tarpon’ during one of my visits in 2006.

During one of my different visits, I have gotten to know several of the local residents and entrepreneurs. If you know someone in Cozumel, they will have family for almost any adventure you would like to go on. My friend chartered a full day of fishing for two people for a very reasonable price that included the captain, a guide, plus lunch and refreshments. If you do not know any of the locals, don’t be alarmed all of the prices in Cozumel are very reasonable.

If you are planning a visit to the Mexican Riviera area, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel are definitely worth your consideration. Personally, I would pick Cozumel in a heartbeat. I have personally bee to Cozumel five times and I am planning another trip there in the near future.

To top it off you’ve been given false information. The first thing you’re taught is to pick some great products. Next to pick your keywords carefully. Then buy some keyword ads that send traffic to the product. And just enjoy the commissions. But it doesn’t work.

There was a time when this worked. But the competition has shot the price of keywords through the roof. It’s time for a paradigm shift.

Do CPA marketing instead of product promotion

CPA means Cost Per Action. It’s much better than promoting a product. Because you don’t have to get people to spend money. Your commission is generated when they complete an “action”. Such as filling in a form. And getting them to do this is so much easier.

Do demographics research

Don’t waste time researching keywords (see below). Invest your research time into demographics. Once you’ve picked the CPA offer to promote. Next, you go to Quantcast.com. And discover the exact demographics of your ideal prospect.

Use image ads

Now you have your offer and your demographics. Display networks allow you to target demographics with your ads. And let images do the work. And you don’t need to know or buy a single keyword. And you’ll save a fortune. Display networks charge a fraction for image ad clicks vs. keyword ads.

Summary

This is a great way to make money fast. Because it’s free to get started in CPA. Image ads are cheap. Display networks let you do demographics targeting. And you get paid for having them take a simple action.

If you are planning a vacation trip to Cancun, hop the ferry across the bay to the small finger-shaped Isla Mujeres. The name means “Island of Women” and there are a number of theories as to how the name came to be but it’s not because of the topless beach. The important thing is that it’s a great place to vacation in the sun.

On Isla Mujeres the atmosphere is much more relaxed and relatively quiet compared to Cancun or Cozumel. The number of tourists is much less than on the mainland.

The city is only about 10 blocks long and five blocks wide so don’t expect a whole lot besides the supermarket and cinema. But the natural sights are what you came for anyway.

There are accommodations to fit all budgets. Most are downtown and near the oceanfront. One of the better hotels is Posada del Mar with air-conditioned rooms overlooking the waterfront. The Cristalmar Resort and Beach Club is south of town and has a great beach, pool and modern facilities. There are a number of budget hotels but be careful because the conditions and service vary greatly from day to day.

The outlying reefs are great for diving and snorkeling. The windward side is best but only when the seas are calm. The coral rocks are quite dangerous when the water is rough. Local dive shops provide day trips out to the farther reefs for snorkeling and diving.

Charter a local boat for a deep-sea fishing trip. Grouper, barracuda, tuna and red snapper are in abundance year round while in the spring you can catch the bigger fish like dorado, tarpin, marlin and sailfish.

Every year the Club de Yates of Isla Mujeres puts on a sailing regatta near the end of April. Also, the Regatta Amigos takes place several times throughout the year. These events turn into one big party for the whole island with costumes, dancing, music, food and tequila.

At Playa Norte Beach (the previously referred to topless beach) is on the north edge of town. The water is shallow, blue and calm with cafes close by. Sailboarding and water skiing are popular as is the local three-wheeled floating “bike”. Not far away is another beautiful and quiet beach, Playa Lancheros.

On the south end of the small island is a reconstructed ancient Mayan temple. It sits on a cliff with a wonderful view over the ocean. This makes a good excuse to take a walk and see the island.

Garrafon Beach is the one spot that seems to draw the most tourists. Probably because it’s such a good spot for snorkeling. Avoid the crowds by going early. The beach has a coral reef that is perfect for beginner snorkeling and children. You can have fun actually feeding the fish. Not too far out you can get a look at some sunken cannon, an anchor and the resident angelfish.

If you go in October, don’t miss the Isla Mujeres International Music Festival. It starts on the second weekend of the month and goes for 12 days of music and dancing.

Just try to write one or two articles a day. And once you have bunch of good ones, expand and embellish them and voila! You’ve got an ebook.

Your advice is easier to trust if they can see you’re doing what you tell them to do. And let’s not forget about good old fashioned envy. They see you getting the satisfaction of making the purchase and that makes them want it. You can add some extra punch to this by ending with: In order to get to see the inside, you gotta buy the product.

Do a preview video

This is a great way to build value. In this case you record a screen share of the inside of the product. They get to see everything they’ll receive when they order. It also reduces the reservations of skeptics. Once they’ve seen the back-end, they know it’s real.

There’s no technical knowledge required. Anyone can create stunning videos with some easy-to-use software. All the work is done by the program. So you don’t have to worry about the technical part of this at all. Keep focused on the rewards:

Honestly, everyone making money online has an email list. It’s the number one key to opening the success floodgates. Once you have a list built, you can market to it again and again. It’s like a renewable resource that allows you to make money on demand.

Now you now why. Here’s how:

There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:

• Your Opt-in Page
• The Incentive
• Your Confirmation Page

The Squeeze Page – The squeeze page is the first thing your visitor is going to see. It’s the page where you ask them for their email address. That’s why it needs to look like a professionally designed page. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And have a clear call to action.

The biggest mistake you can make is not having a clear call to action. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. The funny thing is that people just don’t know what to do unless you tell them.

If you want to add some extra juice to your opt-in page add a video to it. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. Plus it give you a chance to tell them to opt in multiple times. And after the video, you can make it just say “fill in the form now”.

It’s OK, if you’ve never made a video before. It’s very easy to hire people for a couple hundred bucks to make one for you. You can also find ready-made list building tools that include video squeeze pages.

Your Bribe – Next, you’ve got to figure out what your bribe is. You have to give people a compelling reason to give your their email. Nobody likes spam, so most people guard their email closely. So you have to give them a good reason to do it.

The key to a good bribe is that is has value. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And can benefit from. A few ideas:

Basically, you just need some content. Something that’s useful and helpful to your visitors. It goes without saying it must be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.

And it enables you to generate cash right away from your new list.

Your Confirmation Page – The “thank you” page is the final piece of the puzzle. This is where your visitor goes after opting into your list. It’s nice to give them some great content right away. This helps them feel they’ve made the right decision giving you their email. And it helps you establish the relationship. It also makes them more likely to open your emails.

You can use a “done for you” email marketing system. You can also put the whole thing together on your own. And do your own writing for this content. Or pay a freelancer to write the content for you.

Whether you decide to build your email funnel yourself. Or pay a freelancer to write produce it all for you. Or if you get a ready-done package. It’s just important that you start today building your opt-in list. Because once its built… You’ve got a license to print money!

Presell like a pro

If you want to make more money as an affiliate, you must presell.

Before we begin, we need to first define what preselling is. There are two components to it – art & science. And it’s function is to prepare your reader to buy something. Then sending them to the product sales page to make the purchase. If you do it well, it’s completely invisible.

The gist is that you give your reader some useful information. Then send them to the sales page. We’ll get into how to do it correctly in a minute. But before we do, you need to know why it’s so important. Some major benefits of this process:

• It helps your reader trust you – Once you have your readers’ trust, they will click your links more readily. And the more clicks you get the more sales you’ll make.
• It disarms your reader – When you’re not hyping or pitching a product, your reader lets their guard down. This means they are more open to what you’re saying. So your message gets across.
• It puts them in a buying mood – Now they trust you and feel open to your message. Being open means, they are open to everything you give them. This includes the sales website you send them to! And being open to the information there means they are much more likely to buy.
• It increases your sales – You’ve prepped them and referred them in the right state of mind. With the guard down and trusting your recommendation. This dramatically boosts your sales rate!
• It boosts customer loyalty – People like to make their own buying decisions. Versus being pitched or convinced. And this leads to greater satisfaction with the product.
• Preselling increases your bottom line – A satisfied customer doesn’t ask for a refund. Less refunds means more affiliate money stays in your pocket.

Clearly preselling makes sense. You make more money. Your customers are happier. It’s a win-win-win!

How does it work?

Now you know whey preselling is critical. And I hope you’re resolved to being preselling, too. You’re ready to learn how to do it properly. Like we talked about before, it’s an art. And it’s a science.
Becoming an artist

Effective preselling requires gaining your readers trust in order for them to let down their guard. And the only method of doing this is to give exceptional value to your readers. Now, providing enough info to be useful, but still making them want more – that’s the art of it. So you send them to the product website with a hunger for more of what the product provides. And because you’ve gained trust, they’re more receptive to the sales message and more likely to buy.

Part 2 – the Science

You also have to include some very specific things.

The first is how you present the information. You have to have your end in mind. Your goal is to sell the product you’re promoting. You use the information to do this in one of two ways. The first method is to provide enough info to get them started, but not enough to finish. Or you can give them so much information that it feels overwhelming to do what you’re talking about. Either way, the product sales page solves the problem.

Next, you have to use “convert linking” methods. Instead, you use a direct link to the product website. This increases your clicks. But, without your affiliate link, how do you get credit? There’s a trick to make this work… You use an image tag to cookie your reader before they leave your site.

You also want to link to the sales page from inside your article’s content. It’s habitual to click on words and phrases that are hyperlinked. And when the words are in context like this, it makes perfect sense for your reader to click them.

Putting all of this together creates a powerful affiliate marketing formula for success.

Unfortunately…

This process is not easy – at all! Think about everything that goes into crafting an effective preselling article: Awesome content. First and foremost, you have to be able to write a great article that provides valuable information. Which means you need to be both knowledgable on the subject and capable of writing a high-quality article. Writing to presell. Yes, you must providing useful content. But, you also need to know how to present the information in a way that give value to the reader. And somehow also make them want to learn more. Or provide so much information that they see how hard it will be to implement.

Product selection. Next, you’ve got to pick the right product to presell. Even if you get the article written. You’ve wasted all your effort if the product doesn’t sell well.

Technical skills. One of the keys to this system is using “covert cookies” for the tracking. This is actually pretty simple – just embed a 1 pixel X 1 pixel image and set your affiliate link as the “source” of the image. (But if you mess it up, your referrals won’t be tracked.)

In closing:

Now you’re armed with the information needed to effectively presell. And doing this increases your affiliate commissions by over 500%! So, start now and develop preselling content for all your affiliate promotions. Don’t wait another minute. Put in the effort to reap the greater rewards.
